History

Brian Palmer started out working for his father sometime in the 70’s, when the prevailing wage was a bottle of Orange Crush a day, stamping out date codes to be used in the retreading department. In 1982 Robert Palmer, aka Dad, started Palmer Tire and Auto in Decatur IL, with the idea of building a trusting relationship by taking care of the customer first. After a brief seven year employment at ADM, in the accounting department, Brian returned to the family business taking over as service manager in 1996.

In 2002 Sid, Brian’s older brother , returned to the family business, like moths to the flame, taking over as service manager while Brian moved inside to sales and accounting while Dad oversaw the entire operation. That’s when we found this, but our fears were not realized until years later. After 19 years, Brian is leaving the nest to open his own store basing it on the founding principles his father had for his store so many years ago. Take care of the customer first and build a trusting relationship.
